Class 80 (2) [Also in Group XXVIII] Apparatus for varying the time of injection of a fuel-injection pump in accordance with the speed comprises a ring attached to the driving shaft and having a boss 5, and a projection 3 carried by the driven shaft 2; the parts 3 and 5 are pressed apart by a spring 4. Wedge-shaped centrifugal members 8 ... 11 are loaded by springs and alternate with elements 12 ... 14 between the inclined faces 6, 7 of the parts 3, 5. The elements 12 ... 14 are free to move circumferentially in the ring 1 and the elements 12 and 14 may be made from sintered metals and carry rotatable shoes 19 for engagement with the 'centrifugal members. The spring loading, or the mass, of each centrifugal member may be different so that the adjustment of the coupling is directly proportional to the speed.
