Abstract
894,170. Automatically adjustable couplings. CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO. Aug. 29, 1960 [Oct. 9, 1959], No. 29682/60. Class 80 (2). A coupling between members 10, 23 which are adjusted circumferentially for engine ignition or injection timing of the kind wherein centrifugal masses 18 are guided radially in a casing 16 fast with the driving member 10 and have cam slots 28 engaged by pins 30 carried by a plate 22 fast with the driven shaft 23 whereby outward movement of the masses 18 against return springs 32 rotates the plate 22 and shaft 23 relative to the driving member 10, has fluid means for damping the motion of the masses. The casing 16 is filled with oil which passes through holes 37 in the masses 18 during outward or inward movement of the latter. Oil is supplied to the casing through lines 34, 36.
