[Also in Group XXVIII] A coupling for setting the beginning of fuel injection in internal-combustion engines in dependence on the speed thereof employing spring- loaded centrifugal weights whose displacement is translated by transmitting members into an angular adjustment of the drive is characterized by the combination of the measure that the centrifugal weights are guided along a straight line in one coupling member and the transmitting members consist of eccentrics which are rotatably carried in the centrifugal weights and whose eccentric pins or eccentric shafts are rotatably carried in the drive member to be adjusted relative to the coupling member which guides the centrifugal weights. In Figs. 1 and 2 the weights 1 are connected to the member 4 to be adjusted relatively to the part 3 by the eccentric members 7. In Fig. 3 the pivots 5 of the eccentric members 7 are located nearer the axis than the pivots 6. In Figs. 7 and 8 the gear 12 is driven by the engine crankshaft. The gear 12 is rotatably carried by the hub 20 which latter is mounted on the shaft 11 of the injection pump 8. The eccentrics 26 are rotatably mounted in the weights 1 and pivots 27 are rotatable in the hub 20. The leaf springs 13 come into operation at the end of the stroke of the weights. Slots 25 are provided to permit adjustment of the time of injection. Oil mist from the engine housing may enter at 28 and leave at 29. In Fig. 9 the setting device is disposed outside the engine casing. The torque is transmitted to the setting device by claws 30. Slots may be provided for adjustment in this embodiment. The setting device may be entirely or partly filled with oil during assembly.
