561,811. Fluid-pressure servomotors. C.A.V., Ltd., and NICOLLS, W. E. W. Dec. 1, 1942, No. 17084. [Class 135] A fluid pressure servomotor device for varying the angular relationship between a pair of rotary members in accordance with their speed and particularly adapted for use as part of the driving mechanism of a liquid fuel injection pump for internalcombustion engines, magnetos and other spark ignition apparatus comprises a vane-like piston mounted within a hollow cylindrical rotary member with one or more internal projections. In the form shown in the Figures, the hollow member e, which is mounted on the driving shaft c is formed of a number of parts clamped together by tie-bolts f and has a bearing on the driven shaft d. The vane-like member r is mounted on the driven shaft d and works in opposed chambers y formed by projections q secured in the member e. An axial bore in the member is connected by transverse passages v with a circumferential groove w in permanent connection with pressure liquid supply passage x. A rotary cylindrical valve p has an axial and a transverse passage whereby in action fluid is admitted to one pair of chambers y while longitudinal circumferential grooves 4 connect the other pair of chambers to exhaust. The valve is actuated by a lever o connected by links to the free ends of a pair of kidney-shaped centrifugal weights 'pivoted to the partition i and coupled together by a pair of springs k. A non-return valve u is arranged in the passage s to prevent the driving thrust ejecting liquid from the chambers under pressure.
