Abstract

818,825. Starting direct injection engines. FIAT S.P.A. March 1, 1957 [April 20, 1956], No. 6956/57. Class 7(3) [Also in Group XXVI] In a centrifugal governor for a fuel injection internal combustion engine comprising weights 14 loaded by a manually adjustable spring 33 and adapted to actuate the injection pump control rod 20 through linkage including a rod 17, a pivoted rocker 21 and a connecting rod 23, maximum fuel delivery is normally controlled by a tooth 43 on the rod 23 co-operating with an abutment lever 44 mounted on a shaft 53 and loaded by a spring 45 and to enable exceptionally high fuel delivery to facilitate starting the lever 44 is manually movable out of alignment with the tooth 43 by longitudinal movement of the shaft 53. The loading of the spring 33 is controlled by an accelerator lever 29 keyed to the rocker shaft 22 to which is also secured a lever having teeth 31 contacting the spring support sleeve 32.
