Abstract

1418366 Shaft couplings DUCELLIER & CIE 10 April 1973 [24 April 1972] 17030/73 Heading F2U In an ignition distributer having a centrifuga<SP>1</SP> mass ignition advance system, masses 8, 9, Fig. 4, are pivoted by pins 6, 7 on an intermediate plate 5 which is rotatable upon a drive plate 2 having guide slots 3, 4 engaged by pins 10, 11 on the masses 8, 9 whereby initial movement of the masses causes a rotation of the plate 5 against the action of a restoring spring 18 connected between a pin 19 on the drive plate 2 and pin 7 on the plate 5. Slots 16, 17 on the masses 8, 9 engage pins 14, 15 on the ignition cam plate 12 to advance the ignition at an initial rapid rate against the action of spring 18 only. At higher speeds a spring 21 engaged between a pin 22 on the cam plate 12 and a pin 23 on the mass 9 resists further outward movement of the mass 9 whereby the rate of ignition advance is substantially reduced until a stop face 24 on the cam plate 12 engages pin 6 and prevents any further advance.
