Abstract

[Also in Divisions F1 and F2] In a centrifugal spark advance mechanism for a motor vehicle distributer, a cam plate 28, Fig. 1, has angled slots 30 engaged by projections 32 of centrifugal weights 18, 20. The projections 32 hold cam plate 28 and interrupter cam 26 at a minimum ignition advance position at idling speed, but the slots 30 are so arranged that the ignition is advanced with both increase and decrease of engine speed above or below the idling speed. The arrangement is stated to hold the idling speed steady when sudden loads from engine driven accessories are imposed on the engine while idling.
