[Also in Division F1] A gas turbine engine (not shown) has an accessory drive unit 22 comprising a first shaft 21 driven by the engine and a second shaft 28 driven through splines 29 by shaft 21 and secured axially and radially within the shaft 21 by a nut 30, shoulders 31, 32 and abutments 33, 34. A third shaft 35 driven through splines 36 by shaft 28 is connected through splines 37 with the shaft 38 of a constant speed drive gear-box 23, the output shaft 39 of which drives through splines 40 a shaft 41 connected through splines 42 with the shaft 43 of an alternator 24 for the engine. Preferably the shaft 35 is so dimensioned that in the event of shock loading or excessive wear of the transmission it will be the only shaft to fail.
