Abstract
1,124,032. Hydrodynamic torque converters. W. GLAMANN. 11 Sept., 1965, No. 38887/65. Heading F2C. [Also in Division F1] A hydrodynamic torque converter comprises a main impeller 3 driven by an engine crankshaft 1, a main turbine 4 driving an output shaft 5, reaction members 6, 7, and a combined contra-rotating reaction and turbine member 8 driving a compressor 18 through gearing 15. The members 6, 7 are mounted on a stationary member 12 through freewheel devices 9, 10, and the member 8 is mounted on rotating shaft 14 through freewheel device 11. The torque converter may be combined with a differential gear having an input element driven by the crank-shaft, a first output element driving the impeller 8, and a second output element driving the compressor 18 in addition to its drive from the converter member 8.
