Abstract

921,205. Doubling-apparatus. MICHELE RATTI S.p.A. Aug. 17, 1961 [May 12, 1961], No. 29675/61. Class 120 (2). Apparatus for doubling threads comprises a deflector bar 14 carried by the spindle at such radius and such a point intermediate a point where a first thread A (or threads) can leave the spindle axis and one 20 where the first thread(s) and a second thread (or threads) B can enter the axis, that the first thread when deflected over the outside of the bar is subjected to centrifugal force to diminish friction between itself and the bar. The first thread is drawn from a package 1 on a stationary support 3 via a guide 19 to the interior of the spindle; the second thread is drawn from a fixed package 2 via guides 18<SP>1</SP>, 18 and 17 to a guide 16 on the end of a flyer 15, and thence follows a path to the point 20 that is similarly oblique to the path of the first thread so as to ensure symmetrical doubling. The bar 14 and a balancing- bar are carried by a member 13 with concave surfaces as shown to facilitate threading-up and are secured to a sleeve 9 rotated by a belt 10. A tube 7 into which the thread A passes is rotated by being secured to a part 9<SP>1</SP> upstanding from the sleeve 9 and is rotatably mounted in a part 3<SP>1</SP> upstanding from a support 3 which is held stationary by magnets 4, 4<SP>1</SP>. A second tube 11 into which the doubled threads pass and carrying the doubling point 20 is held stationary within the rotating sleeve 9.
