Abstract
697,650. Uptwisting apparatus. SCRAGG & SONS', Ltd., E., and SCRAGG, E. P. Oct. 2, 1952. No 2936/50. Class 120(ii) An "uptwister" for spinning yarn has, mounted above each spindle 7 and axially aligned with it, a fixed thread guide 5 having a hole of slightly larger diameter than the thread 6 passing therethrough, and a cap 8 mounted on the spindle 7 at a position below the guide 5 and rotating with the spindle, said cap being adapted to support the thread before it enters the guide and of such a diameter and so disposed in relation to the guide that the thread is obliged to bend before passing to the guide thereby preventing twist from running back beyond the rim of the cap and enabling twist to be inserted at higher speeds than are possible with a flyer. Each guide may be mounted on an arm 4 detachably secured to the machine frame.
