Abstract

753,354. Double-twist spindle. SCRAGG & SONS, Ltd., E. Dec. 20, 1954 [Dec. 19, 1953], No. 35395/53. Class 120 (2). A double twist uptwister spindle assembly for the wet doubling or twisting of fine yarns includes a container for a liquid wetting medium and means for passing the yarn through the wetting medium prior to imparting the first twist. In the arrangement shown a container 24 is located between the top of the bobbin 16 and the flyer 23 and a guide 28, mounted on the underside of flyer 23, extends downwardly into liquid in the container 24 such that the yarn is led through the wetting medium on its way to the usual aperture at the top of the flyer locating tube 26. In a second embodiment the container is arranged to rotate with the flyer and in a third embodiment the container is arranged around the bobbin and supported by the balloon cup 19.
