Abstract

688,029. Double-twist spindle. DOUTORS SOC. ANON. HOLDING. Oct. 24. 1949 [Oct. 26, 1948], No. 27276/49. Class 120(ii) A double-twist spindle comprises a member having a continuous rigid surface exterior of the yarn, which member forms an integral part with and rotates with the spindle shaft and which confines the yarn from its exit from the spindle shaft to a point adjacent a stationary yarn guide located about the axis of the spindle shaft. In the embodiment shown a bobbin 6 is mounted on a support 7 carried by the spindle shaft 3, the former being independent of the movement of the latter owing to the presence of bearings 8. The support 7 is held stationary by a weight 9. Yarn 1 wound off the bobbin is guided by a spindle cap 10 and enters the bore of spindle shaft 3 and leaves through the side opening 5. It is then passed through a bell-shaped member 18 forming an integral part of the spindle shaft 3 and is thus guided towards the fixed yard guide 4.
