Abstract
1,227,819. Creels, ring spinning spindle. ERNEST SCRAGG & SONS Ltd. 11 Dec., 1969 [20 Dec., 1968], No. 60648/68. Headings DID and D1J. The package spigot 13 has two axially spaced apart collars 15, 17 between which is a floating sleeve 16. The yarn 10 from the package 11 passes over the lower collar 15, through the sleeve 16 and over the upper collar 17 to a yarn guide 18. The sleeve 16 moves between the collars 15, 17 to compensate for tension variations caused by variations in the shape of the balloon 10. Fig. 3 shows the device used in a ring and traveller twisting machine. The yarn from a package 32 is drawn through a tensioner 33 by feed rollers 34. The yarn then passes through an eyelet guide 35 to the above described collars and sleeve, indicated jointly at 31, and thence to the ring 37 and traveller 36. In this case the device 31 compensates for variations in the tension in the yarn and also changes the shape and reduces the height of the balloon 30. There may be a further ring or sleeve between the collar 15 and the package, such as ring 14 in Fig. 1.
