Abstract
1,169,699. Twisting apparatus. AHMEDABAD TEXTILE INDUSTRY'S RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. 8 Nov., 1966 [6 Dec., 1965], No. 51650/65. Heading DID. A twisting device, particularly for use in ring spinning &c., apparatus to strengthen yarn leaving the delivery rollers of the drafting head and to reduce the tension in the yarn, comprises a tube with two arms ending in yarn guides extending from diametrically-opposed points at its lower end, the guides being so arranged relatively to the end of the tube that when the tube is vertical yarn passing from the tube to one of the guides takes a horizontal path. In use, the device replaces the upper yarn guide in ring-spinning &c. apparatus, and is mounted to rotate in bearings in a housing 3. The latter is mounted on a shaft 4 which is screwed into the lappet-holder and is adjustable so that the device can be centred relatively to the spindle.The arms are of wire and the guides take the form of loops. Yarn passes from the delivery rollers through the tube, over its lower end 6 to one of the guides, and then to the traveller. As the latter rotates, the tube is also rotated so that a strengthening twist is imparted to the yarn between the roller and the edge 6. As the yarn changes direction as the yarn rotates, the spinning-tension is reduced.
