Abstract
In a two for one twisting device comprising a flyer 20, Fig. 1 (not shown), for unwinding yarn 90 from a stationary package 18, a hollow driven spindle 10 down which the yarn passes to receive a first twist and a second hollow driven spindle 22 to which the yarn passes to receive a second twist, the yarn passes from an exit eye 46 in the first spindle to an entry eye 68 of the second spindle via a guide tube 60 so that the length of the yarn path between the two is left constant. As shown, the spindles 10, 22 lie on the same axis and are driven synchronously from a drive shaft 28. The guide tube 60 is preferably of nylon, metal, synthetic resin or braided wire and it is preferably stream-lined in cross-section. Guide rollers 44, 52 positioned at the entry and exit of the guide tube 60 are preferably of ceramic. The apparatus is mounted so that the axis of the spindles is inclined to the vertical and the package 18 is mounted on a plate 16 which has an assymetrical weight distribution to prevent rotation of the package.
