Abstract
903,364. Cartons. BALJAK CORPORATION. Feb. 5, 1960, No. 4217/60. Class 18. A folding box formed from a cardboard blank has end flaps 32, 33 and 28, 29 on the back and front panels 13, 12 respectively, slit at 36, 37, 42, 43 to engage hookwise to form the outer end walls of the box, and end flaps 24, 25 on the bottom panel 11 which are bent up to form the inner end walls of the box, the upwardly extending parts 38, 39 of the flaps 28, 29 forming guiding tabs to facilitate the introduction, between the inner and outer end walls, of side flaps 20, 21 on the cover 16 hinged at 17 to the back panel 13. The cover side flaps are scalloped as shown to facilitate closing by automatic machinery. A front tuck-in flap 18 is hinged to the cover. The parts 38, 39 form stops for the cover. The cover flap 21 is inserted in front of the tab 39 and behind the end panel 33, the scalloped edge 50 providing clearance with respect to the end of the slit 37. In the closed position a flat portion 56 rests upon the bottom of the slit 37 increasing the stacking strength of the box. A window may be provided in the lid and back panel, closed by a sheet of transparent material.
