Abstract

969,631. Closure flaps on bags and cartons. M. PETRUSHKIN Ltd. March 5, 1962 [March 15, 1961], No. 9576/61. Headings B8K and B8P. A box, an envelope or a paper bag for postal transmission of pamphlets or books, comprises a front wall 1, Fig. 1, and a back wall including panels 2 and 4, the envelope being provided with a permanently sealed bottom closure flap 13 and a top closure flap 7 having a tongue 8 engaging a slot 9 in the panel 2. To prevent inadvertent opening of the envelope or bag, the flap 7 is also provided with a tongue 21 which when the flap is closed can be pushed by a finger to enter a slot 22. The blank for the envelope or bag is scored or grooved along lines 10 to allow the envelope or bag to be expanded along these grooved lines so that pamphlets or books of varying thickness may be accommodated within, Fig. 4. The bottom flap 13 is shaped so as to correspond to the contours of the shape of the envelope or bag in its expanded form.
