Abstract

1,006,517. Cartons. MINNESOTA MINING & MANUFACTURING CO. June 26, 1962 [June 26, 1961], No. 24524/62. Heading B8P. A tubular carton of corrugated board has the body portion made from the blank shown in Fig. 6, or from two blanks as shown in Fig. 4, the overlapping flap 60, or flaps 11, 12 being shorter than the sides 61-64 or 10, 20, 21, 22 so that when an end closure 30 is inserted in a carton end and its flaps 30a enclosed by flaps 10b, 22a on the body portion there are only three thicknesses of board on each of the four walls. Staples 40 secure the closures in position. A sleeve may be placed within the carton between the end closures for strengthening. The carton shown in Fig. 4 is opened by a tear strip between the top of panel 10 and its flap 30a; the carton shown in Fig. 6 is opened by cutting through panel 61 just inside both end closures so that panels 60, 61 can be opened.
