Abstract

937,385. Cartons. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. Sept. 21, 1961 [Feb. 6, 1961], No. 4425/61. Class 18. A carton of cardboard or the like, of oblong cross-section is closed at each end by a pair of end panels folded one over the other from opposite wider sides of the carton and secured one to the other, each said end panel of each pair having a width substantially equal to that of the narrower sides connecting the wider sides and shaped respectively to form a tongued end panel and a complementary recessed end panel, the tongued end panel covering the opening formed in the recessed end panel. The carton is formed from a blank, Fig. 1, which is folded along crease lines 4, 5, 7 and secured by tab 8 to form a tube, the ends being closed by first folding in the closing flaps 10, then glueing down the end flaps 13 and 12, see Fig. 3. The blanks are cut from a sheet or web, Fig. 4, with the end pieces 10, 12 and 13 of one blank complementing the adjacent end pieces of the successive blank so that the only waste material is that shown shaded at WM.
