Abstract

1,163,716. Folding cartons. JOHN WADDINGTON Ltd. 22 Feb., 1967 [9 March, 1966], No. 10275/66. Heading B8P. A collapsible carton for an Easter egg, &c. is formed from a cardboard blank and has a rectangular tubular shape with one end closure formed by flaps 6-9 which are each folded in to form an acute angle with the inside of the walls and a second inset platform-like end closure formed by flaps 10-13. The flaps 6-9, 10-13 of the erected carton support the egg &c. To form the carton, panel 5 is stuck to the outside of panel 1, the rectangular panels 10<SP>B</SP>- 13<SP>B</SP> are stuck to the inside walls to form the inset, the two angular areas 11<SP>A</SP>, 13<SP>A</SP> are stuck on top of the adjacent flaps 10, 12 respectively to form the platform and angular areas 9<SP>A</SP>, 7<SP>A</SP> are stuck on top of the adjacent flaps 8, 6 respectively. Flaps 8, 6 and 12, 10 are cut off at one corner so that when the erected carton is pressed near the adjacent two carton corners, the box collapses and the flaps fold flat inside the walls. Any or all of the panels may have cut-outs which may have transparent windows or the carton may be enclosed in a transparent wrapper. The carton may be printed or ornamented.
