Abstract

957,627. Boxes. M. LEHNER-STIRNEMANN. Sept. 19, 1961 [Sept. 19, 1960], No. 33545/61. Heading B8P. A parallelepipedal box is formed from a flattened tube which when erected develops an end wall at each end of the tube, the end walls being perpendicular to the axis of the tube, the box having a filling aperture located in a lateral wall. The box is formed from a blank comprising four hingedly connected panels 1-4 terminated by a flap 5. End wall forming elements 6-11 along one edge of the blank and 12-17 along the opposite edge are folded on to the centre part 1-4, and the ears 10, 11, 16 and 17 then folded back (see 11) and covered with paste, also the flap 5. Panels 1 and 4 are then folded on to panels 2 and 3 so that 5 sticks to 5<SP>1</SP> and the ears 10, 11, 16 and 17 to their adjacent end wall forming elements, e.g. 11 to 11<SP>1</SP> on the element 8. When the tube thus formed is erected, the elements 6 to 11 and 12 to 17 present an integral closure at either end of the tube. A filling aperture 19 is located in the panel 2. A hinged flap half-covering the aperture may be provided, which flap folds inwards into the box and by jamming its end into an angle acts as a stiffener for the box. In a modified form the flap may be folded as in Fig. 4 (not shown) or wedged up as in Fig. 5 (not shown). Two flaps may be provided, one at each end of the box.
