971,272. Collapsible boxes. R. C. WALMSLEY Ltd. April 19, 1963 [April 19, 1962], No. 15170/62. Heading B8P. A collapsible box made from a single blank comprises a base 10 having opposite side walls 12 and opposite end walls 11 hinged thereto along fold lines 20 and 14 respectively and wing flaps 18 hinged to the side walls 12 along fold lines 19, wherein the angle between each fold line 19 and the adjacent fold line 20 is greater than 90 degrees and between each fold line 19 and the adjacent nut 17 is less than 90 degrees, and the angle between fold lines 13 in the end walls 11 and the adjacent fold lines 14 is less than 45 degrees and between each fold line 13 and the adjacent cut 17 is greater than 45 degrees. The box is constructed by gluing wing flaps 18 to the inside surfaces of end walls 11 at areas 22 demarcated by the fold lines 13, tongues 15 on flaps 18 co-operating with slots 21 to lock the box in its erected condition. Slots 23 may also be provided to lock the box in its collapsed condition, Fig. 2. A lid may be provided hinged to a side wall 12.
