Abstract

897,932. Cartons. WALMSLEY Ltd., R. C., and SMYTH, V. H. May 20, 1959 [March 7, 1959], No. 7970/59. Class 18. In the blank shown in Fig. 6 corner gussets 12, 13 have extensions 16, 17 which overlap and may be stuck together when the box is erected. The carton has a flange 7 on the lid 6 which engages a packet formed by the extensions and the wall 5. An additional panel 28 having tabs 29 engaging slots 30 stiffens the wall 5. The gussets 22, 23 may be formed as shown in Fig. 6 or, as shown in Fig. 3, are not creased diagonally but merely folded to lie against the rear wall 4, or they may be creased diagonally but have no extensions. Alternatively, gussets 10, 11 may be stuck to the rear wall 4. Side flanges may be provided on the lid 6, and flanges 31 provided on the sides 2, 3 of the carton.
