Abstract
1,057,875. Boxes. S. & S. GOOLNIK Ltd. Sept. 3, 1963 [July 25, 1962], No. 28631/62. Heading B8P. A carton comprises a tray and a lid, there being a slot in two of the walls of the tray and tongues on corresponding walls of the lid so that the tongues engage in the slots to fasten the lid to the tray. The tray is formed from a blank (Fig. 1, not shown) and consists of a bottom region (1), with side panels (2, 3) and end panels (6, 7) which are bent about fold lines joining them to the region (1) so as to form side and end walls, tabs (20 to 23) attached to the ends (6, 7) being fastened to the side walls (2, 3) by adhesive or staples. Slots (12, 13) are formed by the edges between the bottom (1) and the side walls (2, 3). The lid is formed from a blank (Fig. 2, not shown) in a manner similar to the tray except that tongues (57, 58) are joined to side walls (37, 38) by fold lines (59, 60) and incorporate second fold lines (65, 66) and outwardly extending parts (67). The lid is placed over the tray and tongues (57, 58) are inserted into slots (12, 13) the fit being sufficiently close that parts (67) cause the tongues to be distorted on entry and so engage the slots more firmly.
