Abstract
940,991. Cartons. BALJAK CORPORATION. Feb. 16, 1960, No. 5515/60. Headings B8C and B8P. A carton blank A (Fig. 1) comprises a base 11, sides 12-15, a top 20 and outer sides 22-24, the latter sides having T-tabs 28 that engage slits 32 at the edges of the base 11. The contents are either placed on the base 11 and the blank folded up therearound or the contents are slid in from the side between the panels 11 and 20. The carton is erected and the tabs inserted, by machine. In the form shown in Fig. 9, the front 12 of the carton has a further flange 40 hinged thereto that is folded in to lie underneath the lid and tabs 28 on the free edge 27 of the lid engage slits 32 between the front 12 and the flange 40. In this construction, the front and rear walls 12, 15 carry tabbed extensions 46 that engage slits 47 in the walls. The tabs 28 are cut out of adjacent blanks, thereby eliminating waste. In a modification, the lock tabs on one of the outer panels are replaced by one or more tucks. Specification 940,992 is referred to.
