970,740. Cartons. TABAK-UND INDUSTRIEMASCHINEN DRESDEN VEB. April 3, 1962, No. 12782/62. Heading B8P. A carton, principally intended for cigarettes and made from a single blank, has a lid 9, 10, 11 hinged at 18 to the rear wall 1, 4 of the carton, double-layered side walls formed by overlapping inner and outer panels 5, 6 and further inner panels divided by incisions 16 into portions 7 and 13 wherein portions 13 form the lateral parts of a collar and the portions 7 reinforce the side walls 11 of the lid. The lid is further reinforced by triangular panels 8, hinged to portions 7, which are glued to lid top panel 9 and the collar is completed by an extension 12 on front panel 3. The upper forward edges of collar portions 13 preferably extend upwardly a distance about half that between hinged line 18 and the top of the lid when closed and preferably the upper and lower demarcations of portions 13, i.e. the incisions 16 and the upper edges 17 of panels 6, meet fold lines 21 at points equidistant from the hinge line 18. The cases where one or other of these demarcations meet the hinge line are also described.
