Abstract

596,645. Boxes. SHAW, A. H. DOWNES-, and HURST, E. G. Oct. 28, 1944, No. 21058. [Class 18] A lid 38 of a cardboard box hingedly connected to a body 41 having an internal member 37 is held in a closed position by the engagement of locking elements 19 and 29, 30 provided on the lid 38 and internal member 37. The locking elements comprise tongues 29, 30 on the internal member 37 and a projector 19 on the lid 38. Alternatively the tongue may be provided on the lid and the projection on the internal member. The internal member 37 is made from a blank and consists of two side walls 20 and 21 and an interconnecting portion 22 and 23 which may be divided by a pleat 26 to form two compartments. The pleat may be dispensed with and the two tongues 29 and 30 replaced by a single tongue. The box is constructed from a blank 1, and the body is formed by folding the walls 2 and 3 about scored lines 33 and 34 and is held in position by securing the overlapping portions 4, 6 and 5, 7 together. The lid is similarly formed and the extended projection 19 is folded over and adhesively secured to the front wall 12. Specification 585,606 is referred to.
