Abstract

823,967. Cartons. CLELAND Ltd., W. W. and BUCHMAN, A. A. July 5, 1957 [July 6, 1956], No. 21043/56. Class 18. A collapsible carton has flaps extending from the ends of two opposite side walls which are attached to the outer face of an adjacent wall, the flaps being creased diagonally to permit collapsing of the walls mentioned. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, flaps extending from side walls 2 comprise portions 9 and glued portions 11 separated by a diagonal crease line 10. With the walls 2 and rear wall 3 turned up at rightangles from base 1, the portions 11 are stuck to the outer face of the rear wall 3, the whole then being collapsible. By pulling up lid 6 the walls 2 and 3 are erected, and by folding inwardly flaps 13 and enclosing them within front wall portions 4, 5 which lock by tongue and slot connection 14,15 the carton is complete. In another form, Fig. 4, the side wall extension flaps comprise portions 25, 27 parted by crease line 26 and attached respectively to side walls 17 and rear wall 19 ; the portions 27 are glued to the outer face of the rear wall 19.
