584,077. Collapsable boxes. PEACOCK, A. M. Nov. 17, 1944, No. 22813. [Class 18] A partition of three thicknesses for a collapsable basket is constructed from a single blank and adapted to unfold and lie on the bottom when the basket is collapsed. The partition comprises three portions f, f<2> and f<3>, one portion f being connected to the side walls b and c and the bottom a of the basket and the other two folding over it. A tongue p<1>, cut in the end portion f<3>, and projections o, formed on the sides of the centre portion f<2>, are inserted between the walls b, c and the bottom a of the basket and the fixed portion f to secure the partition in position and to provide a support for a hand hold n cut in the partition. Alternatively the end portion f<3> may be formed with ears f<6> and a tongue f<7> provided with a tab f<8>. A rectangular slot f<5> is cut in the bottom of the fixed portion f, so that when the end portion f<3> is folded over, the tongue f<7> passes between the fixed and end portions f and f<3>, and the tab f<8> engages the slot f<5>. The ears f<6>, which are on the opposite side of the fixed portion f, retain the tongue in position. The ends of the basket are secured by the interlocking of the tongues d and slots e provided on the side wall extensions b' and c<1>. In the collapsed position, the centre and end portions f<2> and f<3> are laid flat on the bottom of the basket and the side walls folded over about the fixed portion f which folds along creases h.
