Abstract

650,221. Folding boxes. THYNE, Ltd., W., and MURRAY, A. April 7, 1948, No. 9713. [Class 18] A cardboard box, having diagonal 1 creases 25, 28, 29 in the side and front walls to permit collapsing without disjointing and having rear and side wall flaps 16, 17 and 20, 21 respectively secured to the adjoining triangular portions defined by the diagonal creases, has each securing flap dimensioned to wholly or substantially overlap the diagonal crease and provide a tongue 35 that extends beyond the crease when the box is erected. Fig. 2 shows a box with a hinged lid and foldable lid flanges 12, 13 made from a unitary blank, the box being also provided with slits, side and front wall slits 32 and 33, 34 respectively through which the tongues 35 may be passed to lock the walls rigidly in position. The fold lines 10, 14, 15 and the diagonal fold lines may be formed by interpolated cut and crease lines, Fig. 1 (not shown).
