Abstract

670,192. Cartons. THOMPSON & NORRIS MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and PAXTON, A. M. May 9, 1950 [May 23, 1949], No. 13696/49. Class 18 A joint between adjacent parts of a carton comprises a folded tenon on one part and a slot on the adjacent part, edges of one fold, of the tenon engaging edges of the slot, after the tenon has been passed through the slot, to prevent its withdrawal. In the carton shown each tenon comprises an extension 3 having a portion 5. from which a tongue Q protrudes, hinged to it. The parts 5, Q are folded onto the part 3 and the tenon passed through a slot M or R in the adjacent wall, the tongue Q remaining on the inside of the wall and the edges of the part 5 adjacent the tongue, engaging the outside edge of the slot. The portion comprises a single blank, doubled, and slit at the crease to provide diagonal walls T. The end walls comprise diagonal walls E. Ventilation holes V are provided. The Provisional Specification describes a tongue on the lid which engages a slot in the front wall of the carton to keep it closed.
