Abstract
644,725. Boxes. PEARLITE BOX CO., Ltd., and JAMES, D. July 6, 1948, No. 18103. [Class 18] Two end closure flaps 4, 6 of a hexagonal box formed from a blank of cardboard or the like, of the same configuration as the end section of the box and extending from opposite side walls, are provided with tongues which extend into the box adjacent the side walls when the flaps are folded in superposed relation to close the end of the box. The flap 4 is provided with a tongue 5 on the edge opposite to that of the adjoining side wall, whilst the flap 6 is provided with spaced tongues 7, 8. Additional flaps 9 may be provided on the side walls adjacent the side wall from which the flap 6 extends. The box is formed by folding the blank into a hexagonal tube and the ends are closed by folding the flap 4 inwardly on top of the inturned flaps 9 so that the tongue 5 extends between the flaps 9 and the side wall from which the flaps 6 extends. The flap 6 is then inturned so that the tongues 7, 8 extend between the corresponding edges of the flap 4 and the adjacent side walls. The edges of the flap, between which and the adjacent side walls the tongues 7, 8 extend, may be slightly cut away, as at 11, to facilitate insertion of the tongues 7, 8.
