558,054. Cardboard &c. cartons. FIELD SONS & CO., Ltd., and CREASEY, B. J. May 6. 1943, No. 6064/42. [Class 18] A rectangular tubular carton or container has two opposite side panels 1, 3 formed with extension flaps 16 adapted to be turned in at an angle less than a right angle to engage a base or extension panel 7, on the side panel 4 between the panels 1, 3, and form the closure of the carton ; each flap 16 is in two portions 15, 18 which present a shoulderwhere they meet, the portions 15 lying outside the panel 7 and the portions 18 lying below or inside such panel. The panel 7 has a length at least equal to the width of the panels 1, 3 and may have a tongue 9 adapted to lie against the side panel opposite the panel 4. The portions 18 of the flaps 16 are of uniform widths and of substantially half the length of the flaps and the portions 15 are of truncated triangular shape. The other end of the carton has a closing panel 6, 8 extending from the side panel 2 and extensions 10, 11 on the panels 1, 3 formed with diagonal scores so that the extensions may be pushed into the carton to grip, e.g. the cap of an electric lamp bulb therein.
