Abstract

656,401. Cartons. BROOKE, N., and BROOKE, BOND & CO., Ltd. Nov. 17, 1947, No. 30430. [Class 18] The end of a carton or like container is closed by two flaps 1, 2, extending from opposite walls a, b of the carton, being folded one upon the other, the outermost flap 2 being provided with side pieces 2a which are adhesively secured to the outside of the other walls e, a of the carton. The innermost flap 1 is provided with side pieces 3 which are positioned inside the carton, or it is provided with two side pieces 4, 5 along each of its side edges, one of which is positioned within the carton and the other extends outside to be retained by the side pieces 2a of the outermost flap 2. Alternatively the innermost flap may be creased or corrugated as at 4b so that it extends into the carton and be retained in-position by side pieces 5 which extend'outside the carton. The side pieces of the innermost flap may be of dovetail shape to interlock with recesses in the walls of the carton.
