Abstract

671,914. Collapsable cartons. WADDINGTON, Ltd., J., and HORRY, W. T. Dec. 16, 1947 [June 5, 1946], No. 17032/46. Class 18. A collapsable carton having a slit 8 for a .display card in the upper edge of one side, is formed from a'cardboard &c. blank having a hexagonal base 1 with flaps extending from each of its edges. Two opposite pairs of flaps are cut at lines 3, 4 to leave portions 2 attached to the base. Outer portions 13 together with flaps 14 fold inwardly to form the walls of the carton. The portions 2 lay inside against the walls 13. Extensions 9 of one pair of the walls 13 are joined by stitching &c. to the other pair. An extension 7 of one wall 14 is folded onto and secured to the wall 14 fold inwardly to form the walls of the the slit 8 being formed between the wall 14 and the extension 7. A score 10 in the base permits the carton to be folded flat. In an alternative form, three sides, each having the extension 7 and the slit 8, may be formed from a separate blank, the other three sides being joined to the base by the lower edge of the centre side. The portions 2 are replaced by marginal extensions which, when the free edges of the wall sections have been joined, lay against the sides and within the carton.
