Abstract

299,356. Bryne, J. F. Oct. 24, 1927, [Convention date]. Opening by tearing.-In a box or carton having end sealing flaps, the inner flaps 11, 13 at one end are spaced apart and the outer flaps 10, 12 have aligned scoring lines 14, 15 respectively which allow the box to be opened and provide a lid which may then be secured in the closed position by engaging under shoulders 17 at the edges of the inner flaps. The scoring lines 15 in the outer flap 12 converge at the points 18 and extend into the side wall 3 to outline a tongue 20 by which the lid 21, formed from the attached flaps 10, 12, is partly torn away from the end of the carton.
