934,367. Cartons. BOXFOLDIA Ltd. Sept. 7, 1959 [Sept. 6, 1958], No. 28670/58. Class 18. A carton blank has on the free edge of each gusset locking flap 21 a tongue 30 for engagement with an opening 26 in e.g. gusset overlying flap 20 which when the carton is erected is fastened to wall panel 12, so that the tongue 30 is secured to the panel 12 to keep the carton erect. In a modification, the openings 26 are provided along crease line 22 and the gussets are notched at the outer ends of their diagonal crease lines 19. In a further modification, the gusset crease lines 19 do not extend to the outer corners and glueing tabs are provided on the gusset overlying flaps 20 extending parallel to crease lines 17. Another embodiment has a contact extending between a similar glueing tab and the tongue up to the gusset crease line, and a further form has extensions at either end of the carton end wall flaps which are folded back to the flaps. The fold lines 16 and 17 converge slightly towards the outer edges of the blank so that the carton walls are inclined upwardly from the base and erection of the carton from the folded blank is facilitated. According to the Provisional Specification the tongues take into slits or recesses formed between panels 13, 14 and flaps hinged to these panels. Specification 934,368 is referred to.
