Abstract

1,048,675. Boxes. D. WAINBERG. Feb. 27, 1964, No. 8204/64. Heading B8P. A carton 15 formed from a pre-cut blank 16 comprising a base wall 17, side walls 18, 19 end walls 20, 21 and a cover 22 has locking flaps 23, 24 extending from the side walls formed with protruding portions 25 from which project locking lips 26 and transverse bendable flaps 29 extending from the end walls suitably slit at 30 and 31. The carton is erected by folding the walls and base into right angled relationship with each other and inserting the portions 25 into the slits 32 when the locking lips 26 are folded into face-to-face relation with the protruding portions 25. After insertion the lips 26 are unfolded to extend inwardly and downwardly within the end walls to prevent regression through the slits. In a second embodiment the portions 25 are joined to the end walls and have an integral gore which forms a web at the corners to prevent leakage. In a further embodiment each side wall is provided with a pair of angular shaped locking flaps, one pair of which have angular slits, the other pair having protruding portions with locking lips which are insertedinto the locking flaps so that the interlocked flaps form outer walls and the end walls form inner walls. The angle and disposition of the locking lips may differ. The container may be made from cardboard, plastics or aluminium.
