Abstract

1,240,467. Cartons. VIBIXA Ltd. 25 July, 1968 [2 Aug., 1967], No. 35526/67. Heading B8P. Two flaps 11, 13 at the end of a carton are wider than the corresponding walls 2, 4 so that when the flaps are folded in, their edges press against flaps 10, 12 folded over them to give a sift-proof closure. In erecting the carton, the extra width of the inner flaps 11, 13 cause creases 14, 16 to bulge for an improved closure. The creases 15, 17 joining the flaps 11, 13 to he panels 2, 4 can be curved to allow the flaps 11, 13 to bow and facilitate gluing during carton erection. The creases 43, 44 joining tabs 40, 41 to a glue flap 8 are similarly curved. For thin cardboard, the blank is creased from the outside and for thicker cardboard, it is creased from the inside and each apex of the curved creases (115), (117) is made level with adjacent creases (114, 116) between the side panels (101, 103) and their closure flaps (110, 112), Fig. 4 (not shown). The curved creases can be replaced by straight ones extending only partially across the respective wall panels, either in line with the other end creases, Fig. 6 (not shown) or, for thick cardboard, inside the other creases, Fig. 7 (not shown).
