Abstract

1,055,115. Heat-sealable cartons. KLIKLOK CORPORATION. April 2, 1965 [Feb. 25, 1965], No. 13987/65. Heading B8P. Side wall panel 21, Fig. 1, of an erected folding box, of paper board, coated on both sides with thermoplastic material, is connected to the box bottom 12 by a fold line 25 which is bowed towards the outside of the box to bring the central portion of the panel 21 into the same plane as corner flaps 20, 22 which overlap the sides of the panel 21. Flap 23 of a cover panel 14, hinged to the opposite side wall 13, is then heat sealed to this substantially flat surface comprising the flaps 20, 22 and the central portion of the wall panel 21, to form an end closure. In the embodiment described the box is erected from a blank, Fig. 1, comprising a bottom panel 12, two side wall panels 11, 13 and an end wall panel 21. In erection the corner flaps 20, 22 are locked into the end wall by inserting a tongue 28 into a corresponding slot 29, Fig. 2 (not shown). The top cover panel 14, attached to the box body by fold 18, has flaps 15, 23 which fold down over the side walls 11, 21 respectively to close the box. Adhesion is obtained between the panels 15, 11, 23, 21 and flaps 20, 22 by heating and melting the thermoplastic coating.
