Abstract

1,024,241. Externally reinforced bags; lined boxes. K. BJARNO. Nov. 19, 1962 [Dec. 5, 1961], No. 43681/62. Headings B8K and B8P. A collapsible bag 36 is secured on two opposite sides thereof to a tubular shell comprising opposite side walls 10, 12, wider than the attached bag walls, a base 28, 30 and overlapping closure flaps 20, 22. The bag is secured to the side walls 10, 12 of the shell by strips of adhesive 38, 40, 42, 44, Fig. 2 (not shown), and the base 28, 30 may be wholly or partly secured to the bottom of the bag. The top of the bag is closable independently of a final closure by flaps 20, 22 which may be bonded together or utilize a tongue-and-slot connection 34, 35. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the bag is made from four strips sealed together to form flanges 56, 58, 60, 62 and the bottom may be formed by a transverse seal with subsequent folding as at 72. The shell may be made from two separate members, Fig. 6 (not shown) with flaps 74, 76 being bonded to one another. The bag may be of paper and the shell of cardboard and either or both materials may have a synthetic plastic coating. Fold lines 16, 18, 24, 26, Fig. 1 (not shown) may be formed by two adjacent score lines and fold line 32 by three such lines.
