Abstract

1,102,278. Self-seal carton. A. GREENE. and P. DENSEN. 10 May, 1965 [26 May, 1964], No. 19660/65. Heading B8P. A self-seal carton 21 made from a rectangular blank has upper and lower side panel closure flaps 22A, 22B, 24A, connected to the side walls 22, 24 coated with pressure-sensitive adhesive applied in narrow strips 27, 28 to the inner side of the flaps, and upper and lower end panel closure flaps 23A, 23B, 25A, 25B connected to the end walls and coated completely with pressure-sensitive adhesive on the outer side. The side wall 22 and the end wall 25 are connected together by adhesive tape 26. Before the closure flaps are secured together the carton can be collapsed, with the flaps 22A, 24A and 22B, 24B partially overlapping with the adhesive strips 27 on flaps 22A, 22B engaging the flaps 24A, 24B between the adhesive strips 28 The adhesive on the outer surface of the end closure flaps 23A &c. also does not contact the strips 27, 28. The container is closed by first infolding the end closure flaps 23A. 23B, 25A, 25B and superimposing the side closure flaps. The collapsed containers can be stacked without any sticking together of adjacent container flaps.
