Abstract

967,220. Cartons. TAYLOWE Ltd. Oct. 24, 1962 [Oct. 31, 1961], No. 38908/61. Heading B8P. A self-locking end closure for a tubular carton which is erected from a flat-folded blank is constituted by flaps on the ends of side panels 1-6, said flaps comprising the pairs of diametrically opposed hingedly-connected flaps 1a, 2a and 4a, 5a and two single flaps 3a and 6a which are secured by adhesive to extensions 2b and 5b of the pairs of flaps. The flaps are secured while they are in a horizontal position, and when the blank is flat folded are folded inwards and upwards against the inner faces of their related panels. The flaps are automatically swung down to their operative position by the extension of the blank to tubular form. Small slits 10 may be provided at the junction of the flaps 1a, 2a and 4a, 5a to interengage and lock the base structure in the operative position.
