Abstract

965,590. Cartons. WEYERHAEUSER CO. April 5, 1962 [April 19, 1961], No. 13156/62. Heading B8P. A carton, preferably made from a single blank, comprises gussets 52, outer and inner end and side walls 31, 32 and 51, 61, respectively, and glue lines 56, the portions 53, 54 of the gussets 52 being adhered to the adjacent outer end walls 31 and inner side walls 61 respectively, and adapted to extend between the outer and inner end walls when the carton is erected. Initially, in the erection of the carton, inner side walls 61 together with flaps 62 thereon are folded to overlie and adhere to outer side walls 51 and the adjacent portions 54 of the gussets, respectively. The double side walls are then folded about lines 11 so that the portions 53 of the gussets adhere to outer end walls 31, Fig. 2. The carton may be transported in this condition from factory to user. Completion of erection of the carton is carried out by bringing the double side walls square with base 30. The carton is locked by folding inwardly inner end walls 32 to engage tabs 34 thereon in recesses 64 on inner side walls 61, the gussets 52 thereby being enclosed between the inner and outer end walls.
