Abstract

967,202. Cartons. REED CORRUGATED CASES Ltd. May 31, 1963 [May 31, 1962], No. 21084/62. Heading B8P. A blank for making a carton in which there is a triple thickness of material on all faces thereof comprises a row of eight connected panels 1 to 8, four pairs of half panels 9 to 12, inner, intermediate and outer end closure flaps 16, 17 and 14 respectively and tuck in tabs 15. The box is erected by firstly folding the half panels downwardly and inwardly through 180 degrees and then folding the blank up so as to form a tube. The end closure flaps are then folded inwardly through 90 degrees and the tabs 15 tucked in between panels 2 and 6. Cut-outs 13 are provided in the blank so that the tabs 15 can be accommodated therein and cut-outs 18 facilitate disassembly of the box. If desired, the panels 9 to 12 need not be formed from half-panels but may be complete and connected to just one side of panels 1 to 4 or alternatively the panels 1 to 12 can be formed in a single row. Also the inner and intermediate end-closure flaps may be connected to each other. The dimensions of the panels 1 to 8 gradually increase to facilitate the folding up of the blank. Boxes of other than rectangular cross-section may be formed.
