Abstract

789,627. Cartons. CARRERAS, Ltd., and BARON, T. Aug. 22, 1956 [Sept. 26, 1955], No. 27375/55. Class 18. A rectangular cigarette &c. packet comprises in one form, Figs. 1 and 3, a body portion 20 having a lid hinged along a line 36 and a liner 41, Fig. 3, formed from a single blank of cardboard or similar material, the top portions of whose sidewalls 50 and 51 are folded outwards and downwards to form flaps 54 and 55. The front edge 57 of each such flap projects slightly, thus engaging the inside of the front panel 37 of the hinged lid securely and retaining it in the closed position. In a modification, Fig. 8 (not shown), olny a part of the front edge 57 of the liner flaps stands proud. In a second form, Fig. 9, the liner 42B is made with the flap forming an extension of the front panel 62. The edges 69 and 70 stand forward of the panel 62 and proud of liner outer sides 63 and 64, so that the lid is gripped tightly closed when shut down on to the body.
