Abstract
879,940. Inductances. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 8, 1958 [July 22, 1957], No. 23121/57. Class 38 (2). A choke, e.g. for use with fluorescent lighting, has inner and outer cores 1 and 2 made of spirally wound strips of insulated magnetic material and yokes 3, 4 made of resin bonded iron flakes and formed by moulding or machining. The core sections 1 and 2, and the winding space 5 between them, may be of oval or other non-circular shapes and both core parts and coil 6 may be vacuum impregnated with a thermosetting resin. The yoke members 3, 4 may be insulated from members 1 and 2 by thin insulating members 10 and a further air gap 11 may be provided. The turns of the wound core sections may be insulated by varnish or by interleafing them with paper insulation. The clamping stud 8 is of non-ferrous material. Specification 710,719 is referred to.
