[Class 38 (ii)] The high voltage winding for a transformer such as may be employed in a magneto comprises paper separated turns wound on an insulating former and enclosed in an insulating casing having end spaces filled with fibrous material, the whole being wax impregnated. Paper between and round the high voltage winding layers 2 extends at 8 to the ends of a former 7 and the whole is enclosed by two moulded rings 11, 12 with inner flanges fitting within the former 7 and outer flanges surrounding the winding 2 and spigotted to a hollow insulating cylinder 13. End spaces are filled with a mass of fibrous insulation 14 and the whole is impregnated under vacuum with a high melting point insulating wax such as chlorinated naphthalene wax. The casing is then slipped over a low voltage winding 1 wound on a flanged former 4 surrounding a laminated core 3.
