Abstract
857,441. Transformers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. April 29, 1957 [April 30, 1956], No. 13202/56. Class 38 (2). A current transformer has a primary winding in the form of a loop, one part of the primary conductor being hollow and another part passing concentrically through this hollow part. As shown in Fig. 1, the primary conductor consists of telescoped sections 1, 2, 3, 4 provided with insulation 10 which may be tape or cast epoxy resin. Secondary windings 8 on magnetic cores 9 are preformed and slipped into position before sections 2, 3 are welded together. An insulating member 13 facilitates taping. Tapered pieces 14 relieve electrical stress at the joints. In the modification of Fig. 3, an inner conductor 18 is separated from a hollow conductor 16 by insulation 20 and is electrically connected to it by a strip 19.
